I've read that only 9 women have successfully recorded a 300 pound bench press in competition, is this true?

Only 9 women have recorded an UNEQUIPPED 300lb press.

Now this doesn't mean only 9 are capable of it. For example, I don't see Kara Bohigan or Becca Swanson on this list, but I have no doubt in my mind that either of these girls regularly throws up 300 raw in training. Just that they never compete raw.

Probably. There aren't that many woman powerlifters and most of them are under 165. Thats a monster bench for a woman.

This means that I currently suck.

I was looking at the list, and really...a 425 bench for The Rock is so within reach by the end of 2008. I would love that.

It amazes me that you have not hit 300 and you think adding 125 on top of that mark in 9 months is doable.

I make really fast gains on my bench. My senior year I went from a 245 bench to 285 in a matter of 3-4 weeks. I've just put on 25 pounds on my bench in a month while only lifting twice a week and not following a strict nutrition routine.
Also, that would be 10 months, and I am at a bit over 300 at the moment. 10 months, 125 pounds. I'll be able to add about 5 pounds a week for quite a while, and even when it slows down we're looking at only having to average around 3 pounds per week which I think is doable.
I'm not saying it's going to happen, I'm just saying that I've never struggled with increasing my bench dramatically in short periods of time, and I'm nowhere near the maximum strength for my bodytype.
To put things in perspective, In high school I neglected leg workouts..and after a couple workouts had a squat over 400 pounds at a weight of 220ish. I don' think it's out of reach, and even if I did...admitting that isn't going to help me reach it.

I am willing to bet your current max is not down to the chest for bench without a big bounce....also i have big doubts as to your depth on the squat...i suspect it's the ever popular 1/4 to 1/8 squats....feel free to post a video of you benching or squatting with your maxes to show your form....
125 lb is rediculous amount to put on a pressing movement....you would maybe achieve it in deadlifts and perhaps squats untrained on something like smolov for a couple cycles...you sounds like you're fairly new to lifting so you have big expectations but with time you'll come to realize how farfetched some of these expectations are.

Good chance you're right.
As for the bench, that's with a 2-second pause at the top, and no bench off my chest.
As for the squat, that's a full squat..I think. We had to go down until out thighs were parallel with the ground, just short of a deep-squat. I could be wrong on what a full squat entails, but I'm pretty sure that's what it was.
If I do increase to 425, that would be nice, though. I'll buy myself a nice big steak and post some pictures as I make progress. It's just a goal, not a promise.
