i just joined. i have a treadmill and some free weights, but seem to lack the motivation and TIME to use them. i'm tired of the way i look and feel all the time and want to shed about 40lbs. of this mess i'm carrying around.

is this going to help me? any advice would be accepted.

Yes it will help you but only if you work it. No body has time but we all give it the extra to get our exercising and weightlifting in.
I myself have 2 children I have to run to different counties for school, 1 is handicapped. I work full time then during my lunch hour I pick up kids run them to all of there activities usually in another town. I still have to cook, clean, do laundry and then I babysit for my 8 month old grandson some nights. I normally get to do MY stuff around 9 or 10pm.
You should get the picture we all have very busy lives.
My advice to you is if you really want to lose weight make some goals, not big ones, little ones that you know you can accomplish. And the most important just do it.

Yes this is definitely a place to start. But you have to really want it. Its a lifestyle change not a temporary thing. You also need to think about your diet. Weight loss is about a caloric deficit You have to get more out then you put in. At the same time you can not starve yourself. Checkout the fitness plan and nutritional plans at the top. That would be a good place to start.
