Hi,I'm complete newbie to exercise and heathy living. I was a couch potato but after reading a Stop smoking book (and the thought of an upcomming holiday)I felt inspired to put down the remote and game pad.
A month and 2 weeks ago I stopped smoking and started to ride/bike to work in the morning and evening.
3 weeks ago I joined the gym and cut out nearly all the chocolate bars, chips and cakes.
a week ago I cut down coffee to one or two cups a day ( instead of 20+) and started drinking green teas.
I have two main questions if any one can help.
1. Since starting to exercise I have started to be come flatulent. Is this normal or is it something to do with my diet or the way I exercise?
2.I know it's only been a month or so since I started exercise but how can I monitor progress that I've made? Every time I weigh my self I've put weight on and looking in the mirror I cann't see any difference. It 's just a little disheartening when you do around 1-2 hours in the gym or cycling and because you see your own body everyday you don't see any changes.
First off, fill out your profile so we know a little more about you.
Second, congrats on the non-smoking. Good job.
Third, I'm guessing the flatulence is something to do with diet. What are you eating differently?
And lastly, if you sign up for an FT plan, you can chart your progress with the charts there. But I believe it's for weights lifted. Bear in mind, while you might not see any changes others might. You see yourself everyday, and subtle changes might not be noticed. Get a tape measure and start measuring yourself. Take some before and after pix too... any weight gain might also be muscle.
