3 3-month cycles of dieting and heavy lifting and cardio, so about nine months, total. It could've been faster, but i took time off between each diet cycle and the first few cycles i had too many cheat days/meals.-------------- Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think. OH MY GOD!!! Your kidding, right? I can do that? I have a 20 year class reunion and my 40th birthday next July! You are awesome! So, I can do that by eating right and weightlifting and cardio everyday? And no cheat days?

No, I am not kidding, but it wasn't always fun :)

It is just a matter of tracking your fat loss and seeing visual changes (take pictures every two weeks to compare), when you don't see a change, you need to adjust your calories a little or add a little more cardio/weight training, depending.
Don't worry about it now - just stay on track with what you are doing and keep track of what you are eating. -------------- Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think. Benjamin Disraeli |

it is very hard to resist when you are in a car & it is right beside you. trying to find something that would be fine at the gas station is very hard - the only thing I could find was sunflower seeds which were great (in the shells so they took awhile to eat)-------------- Reddy All people smile in the same language |

gas station - beef jerky, big jug of water.. some stations have apples and hard boiled eggs near the sandwiches and stuff.
Nuts - cashews, almonds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, mostly good fat and better than chips or junk! Many stations have string cheese in the cooler case. Umm, I hope that helps! Also - get in the habit of carrying a protein bar in your purse for emergency situations. -------------- Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think. Yes, and you know what I noticed...I will find myself looking at the junk, then back at the good food....and I picture myself being in great shape and I choose the good food, and the great thing is after you eat it, you never needed the junk in the first place, I'm satisfied. Hard to get over that hump, but when you do, it is very rewarding.

so which protien bars do you like??
I have tried a couple & hated the taste of them At least I'm not tempted by the krispy kreme dognut case - he picks this place for the eggrolls but he did comment that they are getting too greasy for him -------------- Reddy All people smile in the same language |

Tri-o-plex bars are good - they are made with oatmeal and come in a bariety of flavors. they aren't as full of artificial crap as some bars and usually about half of one is a good snack when i am trying to avoid the junk/fast food trap. i like the coconut fudge flavor, myself :)
Keep trying different bars until you find one you like...most nutrition stores sell single bars. Lean body Labrada praline pecan are tasty, most of the Labrada bars are pretty tolerable. Some EAS bars are good, but you have to watch the sugar content - avoid 'energy' bars, the 'energy' is usually from a sugar buzz. Another option, not great but better than greasy junk, is the little protein shakes in a can - usually in the cooler by milk or juice. At least they contain some protein and vitamins. -------------- Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think. I don't really see the need at this point to eat protein bars, or take supplements..for I have about 20 pounds to drop...I am working out with weights and cardio everyday and eating clean....do I need to think about that at this point?

You don't need to eat protein bars - i am saying that if you haven't planned ahead, a protein bar is better than most foods you will find when you are out driving around.
You may want a multi-vitamin just as back-up nutrient insurance. Pictures take a long time, they have to update the site to add new pictures, so i think they do it periodically when there are a bunch to add.
