Yesterday was chest day, and today I am sore from both my chest and my back. Could it be that I'm not doing some of the exercises right, or could it be that I have some kind of illness that makes your upper back sore. Is there such an illness that makes your upper back sore? Thanks for the posts

your most likely lifting more weight than you can handle and using wrong form. My back used to get sore on chest day when i first started working because i would try to lift more weight than i can handle arching my back into it which is bad form. Since then no back problems on chest day.

Oh I see. Thanks Justin. I will go lighter on the weight next chest day. The only new thing that I added to my workout was incline dumbell press. I tried to use the same weight as I did with the flat bench press. Obviously this is where I was going wrong. I was arching my back very much. Thanks

The Bench Press works the chest and the upper back, people for get that, the back is used as a stabalizing muscle when the bench bar is lowered,if you want to increase your Bench Press work the Back to,the back is worked in all most every exercise,it sounds like to me you need to work the back more.

Justin is right on with his comment about arching the spine.

I just added incline bench press to my routine this week, and my back was also sore the next day. But I was told exactly what blue77 states in post that it works the back as well as the chest.

If your back is weak, then yes you will know it and feel it.
