hello all
The other day I was doing leg lifts for the first time in a long time. In highschool I would do them everyday for soccer and I have never felt this kind of pain in my back before. The pain was a sharp needle like feeling in my lower back. Do I just need to get my back stronger or should I just forget about leg lifts all to gether and find a different way to work my abs.
Thanks in advance for your replys.

You need to get your abs stronger as they support the low back. Build back up to doing the leg lifts if it causes pain. I can no longer do these with out a backache later in the day. Sometimes I do them one leg at a time. I have replaced leg lifts with the hanging abs cuz I can support my low back this way.

the first and best thing to do is to visit your dr and find out where the pain cam from. pain in the body never just happens for the hell of it; it is the body's way of telling you that something is wrong.
it may be nothing more than a pulled muscle; then again it could involve a disk. you wont know until you have it checked out. and especially where your spine is concerned, why take that risk??
good luck...........michael

I had the same pain about a month or two ago when I started working my legs again. I just started lifting lighter with more reps and stretching for a longer period of time(especially back stretches). Also try taking vitamins with vitamin c and calcium in them.

Pain in the lower back is a pain in the a** You'll feel this every single time you do a movement or exercise, so my advice is also; go and see a doc. See what he says, trust me it's the very best idea.....

once you do damage to the low back it follows you around like the plaque for the rest of your life SO BE CAREFUL everyone!
