When I do my Barbell Triceps Extensions with an e-z curl bar and with back support, I feel a pain in my right elbow. I usually feel it a little while I'm doing them, but today I think I've hurt it a little more this time so I had to stop my workout. Anyone know what I can do to strengthen or stop this pain? Does anyone else have a pain similiar to mine?---------------------------- †--SiRkS--† |

I didn't. Maybe drop the weight and try it again for reps. Why are you doing tri extensions with back support?? What kind of support do you mean? -------------- Practice does NOT make perfect. Perfect practice does. |

I mean sitting down with my back against something. Am I not supposed to have back support?-------------- †--SiRkS--† |

I have the same problem. If it doesn't go away, just try taking lighter and do more reps, and then keep the heavy and less reps to other triceps exercises where you don't feel the pain.Back support is okey, it actually helps your lower back.... -------------- - Nina :o) La vie est toujours aussi belle..... |

Thx Nina! That's great advice. Hopefully this pain will go away before my next workout day which is Thursday. :)-------------- †--SiRkS--† |

u may be dealing with a form of tendonitis. be careful with it, and dont hesitate to take complete time off for it. better to take some temporary time off than permanently injuring yourself.-------------- Michael "Trample the weak; hurdle the dead!" "Overkill is barely adequate..." |

I agree with Michael on this one! Especially since I once suffered badly from tennis elbow.-------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

I totally agree with resting my elbow fully, but just afraid of missing out on a lot of training. What are the best ways to help it heal, ice?-------------- †--SiRkS--† |

Ice should help...but only temporarily. You can go lighter on the weights and see if the pain persists. If so, you'll probably have to let it heal. If not, then substitute the exercise for one that doesn't cause pain.-------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

I too have had this off and on for years. It comes on after some intensive training usually after a few months of consistent weight increases. I have read about it on some PL sites too. It seems common with heavy extensions and low reps. You can ice it immediately after your workout, rest it (the best, but certainly hardest), do less weight, find alternate exercises, try chondroiton/glucosamine - vitamin E regimen. I can't shake this pain, but I have learned to manage it OK. Even after the better part of a year off, it still comes back when I go real heavy. Good luck.-------------- Ischjli "Seven days without exercise makes one weak." |

Yup, that's it for my tricep excercises. Can't do anything because of my elbow. Can't even do one push-up. Gonnna rest & ice it for a little while before I injure it for good..-------------- †--SiRkS--† |

I felt something like than for a week now.The only difference is that the pain is on my left elbow and it isn't exactly on the bone of the elbow but when i put 3 of my fingers exactly above the bone and rub it it hurts a bit.Aslo when i extend my triceps. So you are saying that i shouldn't ignore the pain and let it rest and put it some ice.Or atleast do more reps and find the excercise that doesn't hurt?
P.S.Thank god i found this site and more importantly this topic this problem has troubled me for a week now and i was wondering who could help me.Thank you guys! |
