ok...I am going to try this diet...but I have a couple of questions.
1. doing the calculations for my body wt I need to be taking in 297gr of protein a day. Should I be making sure that I hit that every day or is less better? 2. Can anyone who has tried this diet give some examples of meals they ate?? this would help a lot. Thanks!! |

Hey weird looker (LOL)
i have not tried the diet but i eat almost that amt of protein per day using alot of chicken - alot of the time grilled with a marinade. As for amt, as long as you are in the same ballpark amt wise, I think you will be fine Good Luck |

I will try fitday.com website ka...thanks. i am also trying to find out what to eat to get all the protein and calories I need on the low carb days for this diet without getting to much fat involved. on the higher carb days its a little easier because I will be eating a little higher fat stuff...its just the low carb days that I am trying to get an idea on.

OK...ag...for high protien days...I made him eggs with lots a vegatables and canadian bacon for breakfast...for snack I sent him with protien powder and deli meat and cheese...lunch I always made him a salad...tuna or chicken, loads of veg with olive oil and balslamic vinegar...dinner I doubled up what ever meat we were having...it was warm at the time so I threw most of it on the grill with any vegatable...I buy frozen...not quite as good but I don't have to worry about it going bad....after dinner snack I gave him a protein shake with a little peanutbutter....high carb days he got oatmeal along with the other stuff...a sandwich on whole wheat bread with the salad and dinnner a potatoe or rice...a pile of it to get him where he needed to be carb count wise...ofcourse...now that I'm working...he gets what I throw at him....
I use alot of recipes from the southbeach diet book...lots of high protein low carb ideas in there...and good carb choices for high carb days... dont know if this helped...but good luck!!:) -------------- "But more than anything, more than anything, My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small, You never need to carry more than you can hold" My Wish Rascall Flats I sing this song to my kids...but I realized..it works for yall too.... |

i also go with steamed veggies - good stuff with very low carbs for the low carb days - sweet potatoes would be good for the high carb days.
As for healthy recipes, I go to allrecipes.com. All the recipes are ranked by people that have tried them. I find some that are highly ranked and see if i can make the recipe lower fat, calories, etc. The different recipes have really widened my selection of meals |

yeah ag...you'll want to keep that protein up everyday...it will give you a higher calorie count on on your carb days...but you want that protein...really watch the carbs on your carb loading day...very easy to go over if you aren't paying attention...
let us know how it goes...:) -------------- "But more than anything, more than anything, My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small, You never need to carry more than you can hold" My Wish Rascall Flats I sing this song to my kids...but I realized..it works for yall too.... |

Get your protein in on most days, especially so low carb days. Have fats to balance out your macros. (EFA's..Omega 3's are best). As you lose fat, some research shows that w3's are the first fats to go, so the need is even greater than normal for them.
On high carb days, lower your protein intake. Remember, carbs are protein sparing, and keeping protein the same amount is impossible to do without exceeding calorie needs. No fat on those days. Get your carbs from good sources, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, etc. Stay away from processed carbs as much as possible. Most of the reason for this they are normally more calorie dense simply by being processed. So it is much easier to exceed needs than with complex non processed variety. -------------- "If it ain't broke, you aren't trying." |

I am kind of confused on that part since the post about this diet didnt really discuss target fat grams. but I am about at 30 - 40 grams on without being on this diet. I don't really know what I should be at for this particular diet.

I just read it...it says to keep fats low to none on high carb days...I didnt catch that either...so sometimes we miss the things that are right in front of us..
just because you put a smiley on it MVP doesnt make it NOT a jacka$$ comment...to bad we cant ALL be as smart as YOU...:) -------------- "But more than anything, more than anything, My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small, You never need to carry more than you can hold" My Wish Rascall Flats I sing this song to my kids...but I realized..it works for yall too.... |

haha...your funny KC!
no...I did not miss that in the post. it does not say ANYTHING other than keep fats low to none on high carb days and a little higher on Low carb days. There are no figures or taget grams. Which little to no fat on higher carb days is pretty clear.....low carb days a little higher isn't so clear. I guess around 30 gr of fat on lower carb days isn't to bad? |

gotcha bb1 thanks! I have one more question for you regarding this diet. is 99 gr of carbs on a low carb day too much?? it seems like a lot. and 297 gr of carbs on higher carb days seems like kind of a lot too. in a post above I listed my calculations using my weight according to your original post for this diet. do those numbers sound about right??
I just want to make sure I understand this diet fully so I can get started on it. thanks bb1. |

Nope, not at all. You must understand that this is in its most basic form a means of caloric restriction. Using carbs for this matter works fine.
Hopefully what it will do is spare lean muscle, for before any 'damage' can be done from lack of glucose, you are re-introducing carbs and your body will sort of 'supercompensate'. Carbs are not evil, follow the plan. -------------- "If it ain't broke, you aren't trying." |

Another nice thing about dieting this way....I find personally that I do not lose as much or at least as fast strength, which to the male ego is very detrimental as I am sure you are aware. This is especially so if I set up my high carb days on heavy workout days for the most part.-------------- "If it ain't broke, you aren't trying." |

thanks bb1, that makes a lot of sense. I am currently doing the ft workout weightloss and definition plan. I am at the beginner level for now since I have not lifted weights in a few years. I am hoping that this diet will complement this workout pretty nicely.

ag30, we are pretty much the same in the calculations department.
Day 1 & 2: Carbohydrate = .5 * 198.4 = 99.2 Protein = 1.5 * 198.4 = 298. Total Calories = 10 * 198.4 = 1984. Fats = 38g Day 3: Carbohydrate = 1.5 * 198.4 = 297.6. Protein = 1.5* 198.4 = 298. Total Calories = 16 * 198.4 = 3174.4 Fats = 25-30g But what do you use to make up the carbs on a high carb day, as I have run some numbers against food carb contents and I just cant make that number. BB1 thanks for this, starting Monday I'm gonna try this eating plan. If someone could poss recommend a high carb days worth of eating to reach that number it would be appreciated (or point me in the right direction) as I'm off by around 100g. |

yes filthypl3b, it looks like our numbers are very close. I really don't know how to get so much carbs on those high carb days. I have only been doing this diet for about 5 days and I can't reach the numbers either. I just have been trying to reach them the best I can. I am usually short on all days for carbs, protein and calories.

WHAT DIET IS THIS THAT BB1FIT POSTED? WHERE IS IT ?
I am looking to try the anabolic diet, or anabolic solution, but i want to take a look at bb1's diet because i am not too sure if the anabolic solution is a great diet because it makes you eat a crap load of fats and medium protein and low carbs? | |
