bb1fit,

I was wondering, what supplements do you use? Currently all I do is complex carbs/protein pre-workout, and dextrose/malto/protein/creatine mono (creapure) post-workout. I've seen some posts where you have talked about V12, SWOLE, amoung other things. So far my gains have increased by reading most of your posts.

Please enlighten us with the supplements you currently use and specifically why. Also if you would recommend others to use them if they are on a mass gaining diet. I'm constantly wondering if I should be doing other supplements like V12/SWOLE/NO-XPLODE... the list goes on. Thanks in advance!! :)

Well, right now I am in a gaining phase, and am simply eating a solid diet above my maintenance level. The only supplements I am using are as you are, dextrose, malto, and protein. I just finished loading creatine, and started stacking it with HMB(5 gr. per day). Those others I have tried in the past(V12 and Swole), not loads of success. V12 will give you a great pump, but this is simply due to the nitro arginine. The number one of all supplements I have found is Muscle Synergy by Beverly. This stuff really works. I have used it numerous times over the past years, and it works each and every time. It is not very cost effective though, pretty pricey to maintain the doseage needed. But for a boost in strength, this stuff is awesome.

I have heard HMB being bad for you is it just in high doses? Isnt it banned in proffesional sports?

bb1,

Good to know these things. I'm sticking with what I'm on right now. A lot of these supplements seem to do nothing for gain. Personally I get a HUGE pump just by reading a bodybuilding magazine prior to workout. It just gets me all fired up and ready to go. As soon as I get in the gym, I'm already pumped and feeling bigger. I get under the weights with with the mentality that my muscles are the size of a mountain. And psychological pumps are free! Thanks again for the post bb1!

Good job! Most supplements do nothing like they are hyped to do. It is odd, most everyone these days will jump when someone talks about a fat loss agent, that they don't work or are a scam, but when it comes to a supplement that is supposed to make you gain muscle, the same folks are wanting to rush out and buy it. If the same companies are scamming you with weight loss products, why would they be any better at muscle gain products. Supplements though advertised and hyped by the company that is marketing them, actually have very little to do with gaining or losing. They are at best a "tweak". Proper nutrition/diet is the most anabolic thing you can do.

I know solid food is easier consumed by the body and the nutrients are actually absorbed in higher quanities by the body. But how do you get 300-500g or protien a day w/o 2 or 3 shakes?

500 gr. of protein? Wanting that amount you would most probably need more supplemental protein. But why in the world would you need that much?

oops, I ment 300-350. But, still getting 300g of protien a day equals alot of chicken. I tried to work up a meal plan which i will post in a sec, but I couldn't reach my 315g a day w/o shakes. Maybe you have some ideas and can tweak it for me.
