Does anyone have any idea how to fit beer into your nutrition? I go to parties every once in a while and drink a lot of beer. I know beer = calories, so what do I do? To give you an idea, I usually have around 10 beers in a night.

beer will dehydrate you and get you wasted. That's the best answer I have. I like beer too. I try to limit it to once every couple of weeks or so. That's a poor response to your questions, but it's all I could muster. Peace...

I prefer a glass of wine once in a while. Be careful; 10 in a night is quite a lot. Your liver doesn't like that much alcohol. Find the calories on one beer and multiply it by ten. It's empty calories and like merlinhog says, it dehydrates and gets you wasted. Train hard!!

I am a beer lover myself, but, if you take extra protein you need to watch it. Your body/liver needs all the water it can get re: up-protein and the beer as well. Also, lite beers do contain less fat. The consumtion you mentioned is not in moderation so please be careful.

Actually that is a misnomer...beer(at least none I have ever heard of except one stout from russia with 734 cal/20 oz!!!)has no/VERY little fat. It is high in calories and alcohol(more calories) which will be stored as energy(fat) in a person's body.

There are 7 calories per every gram of alcohol which can add up to quite a bit in a night if you are drinking 10 beers. Just be a little careful cause it can dehydrate you and add a few unwanted pounds among some other negatives. Hope this helps some.

Sweeny,

all fitness programs require dedication - so keep the beer to a minumum. If you have to drink.. do so in moderation. It is known that drinking beer will give your body a negative nitrogen retention level - basically very bad for any kind of muscle growth / repair / etc.

The night of drinking, have some Gatorade before you go to bed. This will replenish some of your electrolytes, etc.

And also, no training for the 2 days following the drinking - otherwise the workouts will go to waste.

Unfortunately alchohol just doesn't fit into a nutrition plan. Having a few a night or two a week will set you back, but if it keeps you from falling out of your good habits, then, by all means do it. I used to put down the same amount as you two nights a week and it certainly took its toll on my body. It's been over a month since I've had a night like that, but I do occaisionally cut loose on special occaisions (birthdays, weddings, etc.). Try to keep it to an absolute minimum.

When you do have to drink, try going with light beers and eat right before you go out. The fuller you are, the less you'll want to drink (works for me at least). I know Amstel Light is one of the lower calorie beers (around 90 I believe) out there.

well I go out often enough but when I do I always drink light beer (Bud Light) and not too many 3-4. A good habit to get into is when you get home make your self a meal and drink about 5 glasses of water. I find you feel really good in the morning and then have a good breakfast and it's off to the gym. Sometimes I fall off that wagon and don't even make it home =) but thats not very often.

Actually a little dark beer, like the kind from Belgium & Germany (the chewy kind) are a great source for complex carbs, Arnold drank alot of it during his training over there. Many european athletes do.

For me this is a real problem. Every weekend myself and friends drink until we can't speak properly. It is great fun but extremely bad for you.

My theory is work hard play hard. i.e. dont drink during the week and exercise. At the weekend let your hair down and get hammered.

Yeah, real good alib...you'll get real far with your fitness goals with that theory. That shit adds up. Just because you confine drinking to "only two days" a week doesn't mean its any more beneficial. DOn't get me wrong, college was a binge-drinking fest for me but show me one person who gets hammered every weekend that is satisfied with their fitness(NOT THEIR APPEARANCE). It wasn't until after this lifestyle did I begin to value what health meant to me. Hey, have fun all you want but don't expect to achieve your goals physically with that lifestyle... unless your standards are sub-par. You baody is your temple, how you treat it says alot about your self-concept and self-esteem. Moderation doesn't mean every weekend.

Is it the taste or the way it makes you feel that you are after. You can always try unalcoholic beer.

Beer-hmmm;

You know, just the other day I received a call, and wrote down the message for my wife. I am not a very good message taker.

??I received a call from somebody from Gyno-College, he said that he wanted my wife to know that Pabst Beer is normal.

I am sorry, but why would my wife receive a call like that, and have you ever had Pabst Beer...
