Hello! After doing an Internet search a couple of days ago, I came upon this great site. It's been great reading about so many success stories. Great job!!! :)

Well, I'm a 31 year old female. I pretty much ate what I wanted in high school with no problems, but I was pretty active. It wasn't until I began college that I realized that I was going to begin struggling with maintaining my weight. My weight would be anywhere between 135-150. Yes, frustrating for my 5'4" frame.

With my son's pregnancy I gained 42 lbs. That's kinda sad being that he weighed 7lbs 2ozs!! My husband and I were talking about this last night is why I bring it up. Plus, that baby is now 4 years old. So, it's definitely time to get serious about changing my body and getting the model I WANT!!! :)

I'm in a rut so to speak. Last April, I was down to 134 and felt and looked great. Then, like always, I spiraled back into my old eating habits. Now, I'm holding steady the mid 140's. Not close to where I want to be.

This is what I have access to in my home: treadmill, airglider, weight bench with barbell, butterfly apparatus, leg curl/extension. Then, I have 3-10 lb free weights. There was a time that I was using the Body for Life program. Last summer, actually. It felt great the two weeks that I lasted. LOL!!! I feel so pathetic even admitting to my downfall, but I'm sure there have/are others who have struggled like me. I also joined Curves for women in January. The first month I did great! I lost weight and inches. I was so happy and proud of the changes taking place in my body. So, what happened? Well, I fell off the wagon, like I do so often, and I'm having a hard time picking myself back up. POOR excuse, I know!!!

Are there any tips on keeping the motivation once it starts? I know the big picture is helpful. That's my problem though because I can't picture in my mind what I can/will look like with the new body that I can acquire through healthy eating, cardio, and weight training. Is this normal not to be able to envision the future?

Anyway, I'm glad to be joining this forum!!!

First, WELCOME! It is great to have you here!

Second, I was wondering, do you still belong to Curves? I was a manager and trainer there and I do know that the way they keep track of everything is very helpful so that you are measured, weighed and bf% checked. If you still belong, are paying the fees, and would enjoy going back, go back, don't worry about starting over, this is something most all of us struggle with, it's more important that you are motivated now and see your errors.

As far as keeping motivated, I found that coming to this site often helps me, there were days I just felt like I couldn't work out and the people here are wonderful and encouraging. The other thing is to remember that changes take time and if you are willing to be patient with your bodies changes, they will happen and this time they will stick if done in a manner your body can tolerate. Eat right, workout and don't stop - make little goals and accomplish those, or if you rather thing of the big goals, do that, but remember a 1-2 pound loss per week is reality, and as in my case, I lost inches before I saw a loss of weight due to the building of my muscles - which weighs more - and remember, fat takes up 20% more room than muscle, so a little fat gone can add up to a lot of inches!

Good luck! You can do it with a healthy attitude, eating patterns and exercise!!

Thanks for the welcome!!

Yes, I do still pay for and go to Curves. This afternoon will give me my 3rd workout for the week. Lately, I've been making it 1 or 2 times rather than the 3 that I was going in the beginning. You'd think that with me being out of work for the summer (I'm an elementary teacher) I'd be able to get to the gym more frequently. However, we are currently building a new home (My husband is a builder), and with him building a home for a couple and working on our's when he has spare time it makes his time of getting home in the evenings variable. Therefore, sometimes impossible for me to get to the gym. My son's babysitter lives in the county in which I teach so it's not feasible to call her! Regardless of the circumstances currently, I will get myself back to the 3 days a week schedule!!!

Hey Lisa!!!!!! :) It's great to see you here.

After e-mailing with you, I went back into my program and changed the workouts to free weights rather than weights/machines since several of the recommended exercises dealt with equipment I didn't have access to.

I look forward to sharing my progress with you and seeing your progress as well!!!

Most definitely, Hec!

I did my cardio on the treadmill first thing in the morning like I've read in several different places on here. Then, I waited 30 minutes and drank an EAS Chocolate Fudge shake. It didn't taste bad at all!!! Now, to get in one more bottle of water today. Water is so HARD for me to get in because I have no desire for it. I know, totally unhealthy to not want to drink water!!!

Water........now there's something I'm always behind on lol at the rate I'm going today I'll be up a couple of times tonight <sigh>

Wendy, you'll have to let me know how you like your 4 day split at the end of the week! I had cardio today also, LOVED it :)
I heard that EAS had yummy protein powder glad you enjoyed it. I'm not one for change though so I'll stick with my designer whey lol

Great pics BTW! Mine are a bit dated, hair is different, will have to get some new pics taken of myself.

Thank you! The joys of using a self-timer on the camera to get pics taken of oneself!!! As you can tell, the first pic was taken at arm's length!

I can drink water all day. I dont understand why people don't like a nice cold glass of water, besides the constant bathroom breaks.

I have a 24 oz water bottle with me right now. I opened it at 7:15 A.M. and I still have some left. Needing to go to the bathroom constantly is the MAIN reason that I don't like to drink the water or anything else. I usually drink only with my meals which I'm sure is TERRIBLE on my body.

I'm hoping that I can get accustomed to drinking the alloted amount of water daily achieved in the next month so I'll be able to continue drinking it throughout the day when I'm back at work. Is it possible to get the bladder 'trained' to go lenghthier amounts of time or am I destined to be someone 'chained' to the toilet while drinking water? Don't visualize if you're eating or drinking!!
