I'm new to FT, and to lifting really. Got a home gym I've been using for around 2 months now. I knew I probably was not doing the most balanced routine, so my wife turned me on to this site. I setup my excercise program using the gain strength and mass program. I'm looking to add a good amount of muscle, and hopefully lose the gut along the way.

But what I don't understand is this. Most everywhere I read its that to gain mass, you should lift heavier in shorter sets of 5-8 reps.

But the program here has me doing sets of 20, 15, 12, & 10, without outlining how much weight each set should have. I assume they are not all with my full workout weight. Within this program how many sets at what weight should I be doing?

Also, I'm pretty sure its a glitch that my friday workout has me working my arms twice, ouch.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure, but it may depend on if you set up as a 'beginner' when you choose a routine. If that's the case, they likely wouldn't want you starting out with real heavy weights till later.

As for weights, choose weights which will be no problem on the first set (warm-up) and then add as the reps get lower. The last couple reps on the final two sets should be very hard to complete.
