don't worry about the weight as much...you need to each rep in perfect form...try 3 sets of 12-15 reps with a moderate weight...also do 1 warm-up set with min weight just to get the blood flowing...you'll need to stretch before and after the exercise BTW...

tt-rocker is right on. One thing I never use to do was stretching and now I am adding it between sets and at the end of my workout. I've noticed that I can perform the sets more evenly and I am more flexible.

I am not an expert, but you are nearly benching your own weight. That's good...you are only 14 don't push it much further. If you want perhaps do 3 sets. 1 set of 16, 1 set of 10 and finish with 1 set of 8.

You can really start to add more weight once you are finished growing, but what you are doing is great. Don't get caught up on the beef you see on the covers of mags. Once you finish puberty you will be able to achieve the look much easier then...and lot of it is due to genetics and your body type...keep up the good work!

Keep a medium weight, do four sets(not including your warm up) of 10,8,6,4. On flat, incline and decline.

Hey miller It's not about putting others down! attitudes like that are the reason some drop out of the gym. There will always be someone bigger and stronger than you. For instance I could easy bench two of you. His question was about benching not the size of your pants! And steve your doing good but flat bench isn't all there is to chest developement. Don't forget incline for upper chest, flat works mid chest and decline and dips for the meaty look on your lower chest, cable crossovers and flyes get you the seperation when you build more mass but don't worry about the last two much just yet concentrate on the heavy movements and change it up with some dumbells from time to time for shock value. Good luck and keep up the good work.

This is a old thread. Why do you want to increase your bench only?

I ran outta gas. I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from outta town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake, a terrible flood, locusts. It wasn't my fault!! I swear to God!!

Just dont worry about the weight just try to do correct form...form is better than only goin about half way down and only workin half the muscle.....Im 13 i weigh about 150 pounds about 5'8" and bench 185 ive only been liftin for about a year i just started off on that naturally though.....when i was 12 i did 76 like 8 times.....but anyways it just takes time...you also have to remember to do incline, decline, dumbells, and flies because flies will increase your max and all the others will work the whole peck
