Back in my home country, when you do a bench press, u let the bar touch the part near your nipple but not bounce it when u get the barbell down. When I enrolled in a gym in Chicago, the trainers wont let u do that since it would be more prone to injury. What they teach is you lower the barbell until you get a 90 degree arc on your elbow then push it up again. Then repeat the same motion. They mentioned that you will get the same results. I would like to get your thoughts on this?

I don't agree with this theory. I believe in full range of motion.. controlled motion. So unless you have previous injuries.. you should go right down to touch your chest.. no bounce.. then push up.

Good Luck

I totally agree with Arnold. FROM is absolutely necessary for full muscle contraction. Partial movements such as the one you speak of are good to do on the smith or something to break past sticking points. Other than that, remember FROM. This is my take on things anyway.
