Hi. I am fairly new to weight training and have been to a personal trainer. I currently have a program that I am following, but I am finding that the total body workout 3-4 times a week is just too long. I notice that on this site, the workouts are broken into 1 or 2 muscle groups per day. My question is this - I am trying to tone up my butt and I'm concerned that if I don't work those muscles more than once a week that I won't see results where I want them. Is this a valid concern?

In the nicest way possible, NO. If you're getting a hard workout every time, you shouldn't be working a muscle group more than twice a week. Try doing squats, lunges, step ups and exercises of the sort for a good butt. Also remember that you cannot spot reduce, so you can't just do a glute workout and expect to only lose fat there.

Check the FAQs section for women and weight training and do some motivational reading.
As a beginner, total body 3 times a week is sufficient, maybe you are doing too many exercises per bodypart or too many sets? What type of workouts are you doing?

It takes time to shape a body. Patience and you'll get your results. Good luck!
