HI there,
I am trying to figure out how I can get my arms to look more petite like my height. I am 5'2" and I realize that I need to lose 25 more lbs. I am doing lots of tricep machine reps, which is helping. My dilemma is that my biceps are HUGE!!! I don't know why, but they are really big. When I flex my bicep, it looks manly!!! I have always avoided the bicep machine at the gym because the last thing I want to do it build them bigger. Some buff guy at the gym told me to use ther bicep machine with very little weight and do alot of reps. I am afraid it will build them more. What do you think? Also the I was wondering if the obliques machine that works your waist (where you twist to the side) will build my waist instead of trimming it. I don't have much of a waistline as it is, the last thing I want is to get boxier.
Thanks a buhc for the help!

I, too, have always had big biceps when working out. One thing, though, to keep in mind as I've read in other posts, is that if you have weight to lose, you will lose it in your arms, too, and if you are building muscle at the moment under the extra fat in your arms, your arms will look bigger until you lose the fat. Make sure to do your stretches, arms are ones that most don't spend much time stretching.

Hi Sue
Doing a lot of reps with light weights will actually help you AND of course stretching.
About your waist: my advice is not to use any heavy weights but twisting can help you trim.
Don't be afraid of putting on muscle mass. Often when we look a little bulky, it's a question of body fat not muscle.
Good luck!
