Sure, its true to an extent. I wouldn't read too much into it though. Sit-ups and crunches can increase the size of your abs, too. That doesn't mean everyone should stop doing 'em.

donkey kicks! That is the best butt toning exercise ever, and you can do it in your living room. Just get on all fours, then left one leg up, keeping the knee at a 90 degree angle. Your hamstring and back should be parallel, with your foot and calf perpendicular. Bring your leg back down, then do the other one. If it gets too easy, you can use ankle weights to add to the exercise.

Yup...those really burn!!! The good 'ol squats also work the booty...!
Good Luck!

Deadlifts do work...and again...squats are an 'ol favorite.
Froggies? I think I know what those are....

Froggies--lay with stomach on bench, let hips hang off keep feet together knees out and push up can use 5lb weight

Watch out for the lower back though!!!!

It's a very controlled movement, with only 5lb weight if even, lower back is pretty much supported on bench, if anything will strengthen lower back muscles same concept as supermans. Don't rush or swing sloooow and steady wins the race. But of course if you do have back problems I could see where it may aggrevate trial and error, that's all you can do :)

I'd have to say that I usually don't target my butt with weights but tone it by doing the butterfly while I'm swimming. I get my cardio out of the way and the kicking motion you use is all butt and hips! This also works your shoulders though so those of you who don't want broad shoulders should avoid this.
