Hey guys. I have naturally big thighs and was looking to tone them down. I recently had my body fat measured and I'm 9% so fat is not an issue here. I thought that cardio would tone them down as muscles trained for endurance are genrally smaller than muscles trained for strength. I play basketball and train in boxing. Would the length of the cardio sessions make a difference. I read philia's post on "drying" out muscles to make them look smaller and plan on trying it. Will substituting leg press for squat still get you results as quickly? (I injured my knee and can't really do squats)
Would a plan of
Leg Press/Squat 3x20
Leg Extension 3x20
Leg Curl 3x20
done twice a week be good for slimming down the legs? Thanks.

I have the same problem....i dropped from a body weight of 215-181 and my legs were still the same size even though i let my squat drop from 425 to a measly 350, i was astonished when i didn't lose leg size....now ive never really wanted to lose that size but my point here is...you may have to learn to love them just as i do...we are lucky to have naturally big legs...im trying to take advantage of it...work with what God gave you is my advice.

May I suggest instead of trying to lose you "huge" quads, maybe trying to bring up your other body parts proportionally? One day you might just want those "huge" quads. I have never, ever, heard of anyone on stage saying, gee, I wish I were smaller.

They way I trim down my legs is to do squats, and one leg side squats with just my body weight. I do about 3 sets of of 30 of each exercise. Then Run about 2 miles a day. But,I know you can't do squats, but if it doesn't bother you try it without the weights.

Thanks for the responses guys. bb1fit, I was thinking about bringing up my other parts proportionally but decided not to for a couple reasons: 1) I have high blood pressure so adding weight won't help 2) I do boxing and can't really add any more weight. I want to fight in the light heavyweight division and their max is 175. I've been cutting water weight down from 182 for the matches.

Make sure you keep your legs strengthened wnen you lose weight to make you class. You as a boxer surely know the importance of a strong trunk.

ever thought about doing uniliteral lifts, like i do my squates, then i go to the leg extension and do one leg ata a time for 15 reps a piece 3 or 4 sets depends on how my knees feel from squats,,, then do some one legged leg presses any weight any reps u prefere( i like lots of reps lighter weight) cause i already have 30in quads lol,do about 4 sets that, then i might do some hack squats( no presure on the knees at all harldy or i do some lunges with dumbells( easier to balance them) thats what i been doing and i can tell alot more tone outta my legs but i still have alot of work lol
