For me....Steve Irwin's passing...very sad...still can't believe the crocodile hunter is gone...the kids and I adored him.
Although North Korea scares the crap out of me...the thought of them with nuclear weapons is terrifying. -------------- \\"If you had one shot...or one opportunity to seize all you ever wanted...in one moment...would you capture it...or just let it slip\\" eminem |

Saddam is right up there, but maybe because it just happened (if indeed it did - must be some conspiracy sites out there somewhere :)).
In Canada, the shooting in Montreal. Maher Arar is another biggie. And we can't forget about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. its an extreme eye for an eye, im nto sayin i forgive him or what he did means he deserves to live, but deserving to die just seems immoral to me, even though i know your gonna say he had no morals which he obviously didnt... i now will stop.

I don't think it matters...but I've already given my veiws on eye for an eye at length...which is what I beleive we were discussing any way...not Hussein...but if we chose to dicuss Huessein in a "news story" thread...why would it matter...it is after all....news.
Just curious. -------------- \\"If you had one shot...or one opportunity to seize all you ever wanted...in one moment...would you capture it...or just let it slip\\" eminem |

carivan is just doing a pre-emptive reminder for everyone to stay civil, since political debate topics tend to get people a little heated up. It has nothing to do in particular with what the topic is about. If that were the case, I would just remind everyone that this is a fitness website and not the Associate Press, and would have deleted dozens of other topics not related to health and fitness already.-------------- Michael Those who think they know everything, annoy those of us who really do. |

So we aren't allowed to debate in a civil manner anything if it has nothing to do with fitness now???
Unless the mods approve. And the mods referring to members remarks as "stupid"..is this not going to be allowed any longer either??I feel, personally, that was WAY more heated than anything stated in this thread...but what do I know. |

Okay, let me try to clear up this misunderstanding a little:
Many times in the past, any time someone started a political debate, no matter how honorable the original poster's intentions were, it generally became overheated, and usually ended up in name calling. What Ivan was doing was heading off any such situation, before it started. My remark to your post was that we are not trying to stifle any news discussions; if that were the case, many other posts would have been deleted in the past. We are just trying to maintain a certain level of civility around here. :) Hope that clears everything up.... ============ Quoting from KC_72: So we aren't allowed to debate in a civil manner anything if it has nothing to do with fitness now??? I understand your point rev....I did misunderstand yesterday, and it got explained to me...BUT...my point was that I felt it very rude to be told by Ivan how to behave in a thread...after he just called someones advice "stupid" in another thread,I try to respect the rules(I really do)and for a mod to make such an antogonistic remark after making a big deal out of us regular posters not following decorum...was a bit much for me.I felt it to be very condescending and unneccessary.
Ivan...perhaps I should be stating this to you in IM,however since I believe I am being civil...I'd like to make my point of known. I appreciate this site...and the work the mods put into it...especially Amy for me personally...but if I see something wrong...something I personaly perceive to be wrong...I rarely will hold my tounge. But thankyou rev for taking the time to explain your post...I know you didn't have to...and it means alot to me.:) |
