Hey everyone,
I recently started biking about 3 miles on the days i don't do my other excercises. I started out with one mile and worked my way up, and i was very proud of myself. But yesterday I had just completed the first 1.5 mi. lap and I got really lightheaded and thought i was going to throw up and pass out at the same time, which if you can't imagine is a very unpleasant feeling. I don't know what it was and I was wondering if anybody out there had some insight. The only thing I know it wasn't was dehydration, I drink plenty of water. It might not even have to do with the biking but I thought I'd see if what your opinions were. Thanks

If it was mildly hot or humid it could have been heat exhaustion. It happens all the time where i live in Florida. Or it could have been that you were working on an empty stomach. There is a lot of circumstances that cause what you have described. The best thing to do is stop the exercise and get some water and a light snack. Make sure to drink and eat slowly. Hopefully it will not happen again. Keep training!

It sounds like a case of heat exhaustion, and possibly a lack of proper hydration prior to the biking. You can be taking in water during your exercise and still be dehydrated. It's definitely something you want to research alittle before you get into the longer biking trips. good luck.
