Carpet and floor presses are the same. Board presses just incase you dont know. Are where you stack boards at varying heights on your chest, to change your range of motion in the bench. They allow you to work your bench skills at diferent stages. SO if your sticky point is 4inches off your chest. Place the boards there accordingly so thats where the bar stops. You then work on pressing from that point. Any old kinds of wood will do.

wouldnt board presses be dangerious??? what if you work to failure where you cant press the bar no more? this is an exercise where u must have a spotter then right?? and also... instead of using a board.. could u just go by height where the board is like imagine where to stop ?? example go half way down then press up like normal benching??

Board presses help you to lock out the weight at the top, like mmaibohm said try board press with chains, excellent movement just ask Ryan kennely he knows, buy his book the Kennely method it will show you everything you need to know about increasing your bench press.

board presses usually help you fight through a sticking point 2-8 inches off your chest...it does not help with lockout however....You can do them without a spotter but you'll have to work lighter and stay within your limits...having a spotter is very helpful however...

Why would this be any more dangerous than regular bench press without a spotter.

keeping the boards on your chest with out a spotter could be interesting.
