I get tons of email and see many posts about folks looking for some "special" workout that noone else knows about I guess that will magically make them gain faster, be more cut, etc.
Don't overcomplicate things. Use the simplest possible approach that will provide you results, and be consistent.
This seems to be the biggest mistake that everyone makes when starting out.
People become obsessed with every little single detail of their training -- Should I do 5 sets of 5 or 4 sets of 6?
Should I rest 60 seconds or 90 seconds between sets?
Should I do barbell bench press or dumbbell bench press?
They focus so much on all this irrelevant stuff, and don't focus on the big picture: adding weight to the bar.
Everything that you do in the gym will ultimately boil down to that key factor, and everything you do should be oriented towards this.
Some may not think this is the case, reading crap magazines like the Weider rags, and the like, these guys have a magazine to sell, a product to sell, and so have to keep coming up with more and more outrageous stuff that this is the new and most exciting way to gain.
Think about it, guys have been reading these mags for a long time. If what they put in there was so effective, wouldn't you see tons of huge guys running around by now?
Focus on what matters, has since the beginning, has never changed...focus on adding weight to the bar.

Haha, I'm guilty, I was that person.
I only recently woke up and realized that I was over thinking it-- even after reading a post like this before.
