what are some good breakfast cereals that are low on the GI scale. I've been eating oatmeal and all bran for the last while and i'm getting bored of them. I was thinking of 100% shredded wheat, is that any good? any comments are appreciated.

I've been eating oat meal every single morning for the last 2-3 years........ Sometimes I put some fruit in, some cinnamon, soy milk, nuts, sunflower seeds, protein powder, some other cereals etc
It's never the same.........

Definitely, Nina. Just this morning, in addition to my protein sources, I had 2 servings of oatmeal, mixed in 6 hard boiled egg whites, 1 tbs of peanut butter, cinnamon, raisens, honey, 1 cup of milk, and topped it all off with some whipped cream.......YUMMY!

Generally breakfast cereals are all pretty highly processed, shredded wheat included. I can't think of any decent ones off the top of my head, but I'll look into it.

Oatmeal rules;
I hardly ever eat any cold cereal, I think raisen bran is good sometimes.
Ever try cream of the west, I think its made in Montana.

Oatmeal with some wheat germ and raisins! Carob chips for a treat.

But the weird thing is that I get sooooo hungry after eating those other typical breakfast cereals. I can eat three bowls and still feel hungry but eating some good old fashion oats cut my appetite and makes me feel full after two spoons......

By the way check out the glycemix index:

The glycemic index is the measure of how quickly food is assimilated into glucose -essentially the food's effect on your blood sugar levels. In theory this also indicates the insulin response, but unfortunately that's not always the case. The lower the number the better.

I have been eating Vector cereal. Has 16 vitamins in one serving, and it is more of a healthy / athletes cereal. Tast good too, no joke, it truly does.

worth a try. About 200cal per serving. You can chk out all the details on the box next time your looking. :)

Raisin Bran here. The one I get is low in sugar and high in fiber (I get a shot of protein with peanut butter on a bagel also). Cereals are a good way to get some much needed vitamins and minerals after a night of sleep.
