My name is david and this is my first time here. I have trouble when i go jogging with my breathing. I start out fine but it only takes about a minute to three before my chest starts hurting and my breathing is limited, but i don't feel tired and my legs are just getting warmed up. Now i can run a mile with steady speed in less than 7 min., but i don't sweat very much like i have seen many people do before. Also when i workout with weights i don't sweat much either. What can i do or is there anything i can start doing different that will help with these.

Sounds like your water intake is to low...as for the breathing..are you a smoker?Do you run in an area where there are alot of cars driving by?
I'm confused...you said your lungs start to hurt within 3 minutes but you don't have a problem running a 7 minute mile...

I don't smoke. I usually run on a track outdoors a block away from a hospitol. Yes my lungs start hurting a little when i start running but i get used to it and force myself to go longer. I found out the other day from my mom that when i was little my lungs wasn't fully developed. I had broncheal asthma when i was young. That i thought had went away or i had adjusted to better breathing but when i push it, it pushes back harder.

I would suggest letting you doctor check our your lungs to make sure you do not have some sort of asma or something that could be dangerous. It sounds like you can run at a steady pace and unless you are training to be a sprinter that should be ok. And I agree with KC_72 in that it sounds like you may need to be drinking significantly more water.

I agree with both raiderfan and KC, get checked out by a Dr., just to make sure there isn't an underlying condition. However, this is not an unusual occurence when starting to run. It just takes time to build up your cardiovascular endurance. Just keep at it and you'll find it improves. As far as not sweating....don't sweat it...some people sweat more than others, it is not always a sign of how hard your working. But, make sure you are always properly hydrated!
-------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

meatbag, just work on slowly increasing your distance at a pace that is tolerable, that means you can carry on a conversation(maybe a little breathless but you can get 3-4 words out at a time) Once you build up to running at this pace for 30min, then try increasing your pace a bit. It just takes time to build up your cardio endurance, but it will come.
