I have heard it before, here and outside about the key to building the smaller muscle groups such as the arms i.e. biceps and so forth. One needs to work on the bigger muscle groups. I agree with that completely. However, in my workouts I am limited to 235 lbs. I pull the 235 with the deadlift without to much trouble. I go to a friends house who has a little more weight to put up 255 for my flat bench. With these weights in mind and the limit involved is there a way to continue to increase my arms. I am currently at 16 inch, a little less on the left and want to go for 17. Can it be done with the weights I have? I figured I was going to get to a certain point with what I have and either have to continue to purchase more weight or invest in a gym. Finances and time are so limited it's not even funny. I'm a single dad of 3 and I don't have the best job in the world. Like most it's week to week with me. I guess any advise would be welcome.
Very often weight training has nothing to do with weight but the WAY you are lifting. So if you cannot stimulate your muscles with lifting heavier then try to concentrate about contracting very hard the working muscles and slow down the speed of the movement. Slowly slooooowly and contract!!!
Other weeks don't, do a lot more repetitions and go faster.
Also do exercises where you'll use your body weight (like chins, dips or push ups (make one of your kids sit on your shoulders!!! ;o)
Don't give up Ace, you'll be doing great!
