Like maby among us here I am trying to gain mass with some success. The tricky thing is the number of Calories that the Nutrition Tracker has calculated for me.(something like 3500 Calories) I am taking in roughly 2300 to 2500 Calories and that seems like a lot. I am lifting pretty Hard, and doing about 20 minutes of Cardio daily. I am just afraid that such a high Calorie intake will result in MAJOR fat gain. Am I just being paranoid?

Welcome to ft! To gain mass, you need the extra calories to fuel your workouts. However, from your post, it sounds like you may be doing too much cardio. If you're trying to gain mass, you'll need to cut your cardio and save your energy for weight lifting.

Also, you can consume a lot of calories without consuming much fat...just watch your fat consumption.

Hope this helps and good luck!

20 mins of cardio doesn't really seem too much for me, but anyway, you'll see yourself. You do the cardio before or after the weight training?

The calculated nutrition programs in here are very well made, but don't forget that they don't know your excactly body type or metabolism.
Have you been putting on muscles with 2500 cal daily? If yes, keep it like that. If no, try to eat a little more proteins and carbs.

The best one to know if it'll work or not is yourself.

Good luck.

I also think 20 min cardio each day is okay. Get a measuring tape and keep track of some of your measurements like the waist and bicep. That way you will be able to tell if you are gaining. The scales are a poor indicator. If your waist measure is increasing and the bicep is staying the same you are putting on fat and need to change the diet ratios.

Good advice from all.. My Waist measurements have been holding quite steady (maybe a centimeter change in several weeks)while my chest and Biceps have seen by growth.(started out at 12 inches and have gone to 13 to a little less than 13.5 Chest as well from 38 to nearly 40) I have seen some yo yo fluctuation in my weight, but I believe that to be a result of water due to the Creatine Supplimentation. So I am adding a few Calories 300 or so a week til we see a neg change.
Another question that I have is about muscular growth. Does one grow steadily, or do we find ourselves having growth spurts?

Muscle growth rate is different for everybody. Some muscles grow faster than others, too. If you feel you have hit a wall, you may have reached a plateau.

In the beginning you'll get very fast results since your body is waking up and you'll have enough energy sources in your body to take from.
Then after a while you'll risk hitting the plateau.

To avoid this you just have to change your diet and exercise program and your gains will be more steady from then.
