This thing i use says i burn 5800 calories a day with all the activities i do in a day so does that mean i have to eat 6800 calories a day to gain a couple of pounds a week.. this just seems like a little much on the food

If you want to gain, start at 15 calories per pound of bodyweight for about 2 weeks. If you don't see an increase in your weight, try 17, or until you see a differenc. The opposite goes for losing.

Those numbers are a guide line. If you are in control of your caloric intake, then adjust accordingly.
