I've found that I need to take in far less than my recommended calorie intake to keep from going over the fat limit. For example, on average the foods that i eat contain about 4 - 6 grams of fat, and usually less than 200 calories. So by the time i reach the 34 grams of fat im allowed, im always far underneath the calorie limit, as well as protein and watever else is there.

So is the recommended levels set for us supposed to make us reach that amount or is it safe to be below the limit for calories and proteins?

How have you determined what your overall calorie intake should be?

Fat is not the devil. It will not make you fat on its own. Excessive overall caloric intake over long periods of time is what will make you gain weight. Fat is just one piece of the puzzle. :)

You may just need to add in naturally fat free foods like fresh vegetables. I personally find it easiest to follow something close to a 40-30-30 balance or maybe 50-30-20, so that no more that 20% to 30% of your calories for the day come from fat, 40 - 50% from carbs, and the rest from protein. If you are averaging 4-6 grams of fat for every 200 calories you eat you are approximately in that range. Also, if you are following FT's calorie prescription, it tends to run high so you are probably okay.

I'm not an expert like bb1, the above is from my own experience and understanding.
