ok so i have a membership at bally total fitness and when i went there for a free personal training the trainer told me i should be eating no more than 1500 calories to lose weight and work out like 3-5 days of week. Now when i looked up my nutritional profile it tells me something way higher than what they told me at bally i am 5'3" and i weigh 180 and my body fat is 43.2% so should i use the one i have here or the one for bally's some one please help:(

Okay so what is way higher, give us a value?
Yeh height and size wise 1500 sounds fine for weight loss.
On this site the figure you have is like the maximum you can have including the fact that you do train and that takes energy in the form of calories so weight gain wont happen unless you exceed the freetrainers quote(generally speaking) . So what is the value here then? 2300+ ? Mine is a whopping 2800+ a day and actually accurate as a good maintenance figure without weight gain(I'm 5' 10'',177lbs).. And I must dip to 1800 for a pound a week loss.. look up on the fitbuddy search for basal metabolism calculator and bbfit grocery list. You will get alot out of both I think.
On any diet, try to make it a permanent lifestyle rather than a passing fad. Never drop below 1200 calories and keep a food diary(it's here on line)

r eyou female or male? Did they take your resting metabolic rate at Bally's?
At 180lbs, 43% bodyfat you have about 103 lbs lean mass. If you are female, you would be comfortable around 20% but may decide to go leaner eventually - at 20% you would weigh approximately 128 - 130 lbs.
At 130lbs you need about 1,600 calories for maintainance, and maybe 200 more for daily activity (any more and you won't create a deficit.). so, 1,900 calories a day is what i come up with.
One thing you need to consider is how many calories you have been eating until now - you need to gradually change your caloric intake, otherwise you will overeat and gain or undereat and not progress.
Eat lots of lean protein, lots of green vegetables, fruit in the morning, oatmeal and rice )whole grains, in moderation).
The 1,500 calories is based on an outdated idea of what every person should eat to lose weight. It doesn't take into account your metabolism, your baseline diet, your activity level.
If 1,900 feels like too much, lower it by 100 and see how it goes.
Let us know how it turns out!

Ok, gonna post this question here cause it fits in with this thread. . . I read on another post awhile back that a general rule for figuring out how many calories to consume each day to lose weight is to take your ideal weight <I'm 5'8" so 140lbs is what I've been told> times 10. . . but only eating around 1400 calories a day makes it hard to get in the 6 meals you all say I should. . . any comments either way would be appreciated.
-------------- Love me as I am . . .
Let me worry about how I look!
