Welcome to freetrainers Animalfreakand good luck entering the marines.
First off, protein intake will NOT make you loose weight.
Protein will help repair damaged tissue from weight training, and is the main building block of our bodies.
Take a look at your diet and start a weight training program with some cardio. Then supplement with protein if you are not meeting your daily intake.
Hope this helps. Good Luck

Sorry, can't give you much better advice than Carivan as far as the protein, he is right on. Your bodyfat comes from a surplus of calories. To tap into these bodyfat stores, a deficit of calories must be reached. The simple truth is, burn more calories than you take in, and you will tap into your fat stores. Check your diet, and go from there. The gym will make you more "fit" than you ever were, but without proper diet, you will not see a change in your body structure like you want. If you are eating alot, no matter how much you exercise, you will not be able to burn off the amount of calories you can take in from pizza's, ice cream, etc. This is why exercise alone will not change your body comp, this is why you see folks go in to the gym on a daily basis, workout hard, but never ever change. Diet is the answer, it determines what you get out of your training.

Unless you are stationed on a Naval base, regular Marine Corps chow shouldn't be that good (LOL).
But, your problem is your diet. You've gotta cut back on the portions you eat and basically train like you're in boot camp again. Remember those days getting up at Reveille, exercising 'till you dropped and had basically 30 seconds to eat your 3 squares a day? Remember how much weight you lost and how good you felt during Phase III?
Ahhh, the good 'ol days!
