I am a twenty year old girl, who has been keeping my calorie intake at about 1200 a day. I am 5'2 and weight around 120 pounds. However, this is at least 10 pounds heavier than I was a couple of months ago, and at least 10 pounds heavier than I want to be. I was having trouble keeping the weight off, and when I started eatting just a little bit more than that, I gained all of that weight back really quickly, and no matter how hard I try, I canNOT get it off again! I've been trying for two monthes to lose the weight again. Nothing works. For the first month, I was doing 45 minutes of Cardio a day & around 1150 calories. Most of these calories came from fruits, vegetables, whole grain cereal (bran, etc.), and Lean Cuisine meals. I ate my food in small meals, rather than large ones, and I simply have not lost any weight. I drink water and diet coke constantly, make sure I get at least 25 grams of fiber a day, do not eat butter or dairy, & have been totally busting my butt. If I do not eat like this, however, I will not only not lose weight, but I'll gain more. I've been fighting with this since I was a little girl. It is driving me insane. Lately, I've been wondering if I could be hypothyroid. My hands and feet are constantly unusually cold, I am slow, clumsy, lethargic, very moody, get depressed easily, tired constantly, gain weight extremely easily, have a short squatty stature, amongst other symptoms. But, I am not what you would technically classify as overweight, so my friends do not think I have a problem. If anyone has any experience with this, I would appreciate it so much if you would give me some advice... Sorry this post is so long.

Get checked for thyroid problems.
Then consider that you are burning off a lot of calories and you may need some additional protein in your diet. Do your small meals contain enough protein for your body? Are you eating too many grains and not enough good fat? You would need to write down a week's worth of eating to really get a good picture, many people think they are eating right, and they are usually close, but a few minor changs could make a big difference.
You may have thyroid problems or hypoglycemia, in any case, see your doctor before dieting any more or giving up. It is just a puzzle, once you solve it, it will help.
You may have lost muscle instead of fat with your previous efforts, therefore slowing down your metabolism, the extreme caloric restriction also slows down your metabolsim. If you were to gradually bring your calories up and change the way you eat gradually you will be able to lose fat, gain muscle and feel firmer and leaner. Get off the scale. Appearance and how your clothes fit is more important.
Good luck.
