Hey everyone. I started my program a week ago, after changing my diet and hitting the fitness plan regularly. I've run into a rut though on Week 2. It asking to do these particular exercises, which I have no means of doing them...
1. Machine Incline Press
2. Seated Machine Flyes
Those are basically the only two that I have no way of doing with the particular machine that I have access to. I am wondering if there are any exercises with the machine that I do have that I can substitute them for. I will try and find the model of the machine I'm using here and post that, if it will be of any help. I have free weights as well, although not much weight for them at the moment. Just a couple of barbells with minimal small weights.
Any ideas?
Thank You!

Just had a few more things to add before I hit the sack for the night...
After being skinny for my entire life and waiting till now to try and do something about it, I'm seeing some slight gains. Even though it's only been a week. I started a portfolio of pics that I keep on my PC to keep track of weight, nutrition, and physical status. It helps keep me motivated when I can "see" the gains actually appearing.
Anyway, one thing I noticed was my waist size. It's nothing huge, but I can actually see a difference from a week ago. Instead of curving in before hitting my waist area, my sides are virtually even now. This is great! Not much of a difference, but after a week there at least a noticeable increase! It's good that at least my waist starting to thicken up just a little bit.
I weighed myself when I started and again tonight a week later. I've gone from 149.4lbs to 157.8lbs. and it seems to be holding. I've been at 143-148lbs since I graduated from High School 4 years ago. So this is fantastic after only a week. Although, I've been eating a TON trying. That's one thing I've found extremely difficult. Trying to maintain the diet. Between working full time and college full time, its hard to find the time to eat and more importantly eat properly.
Anyway, here are my questions...
1. Are there any recommendations to what I can do for the diet part of the program? I can't afford supplements for a couple more months, and I would like to avoid them altogether if possible.
2. Most of my family has tiny forearms. Of course, I have them too. This is one thing that I would like to change. Are there any exercises to increase forearm mass/muscles specifically?
Thanks for the help so far everyone! It's great to finally be motivated and actually SEEING results. I'm leaving for my first vacation with my girlfriend of 5yrs in a month and want to look my best!
Anyway, thanks again!

I am a F/T worker and F/T student as well. You will find it hard to do a good diet without supplementation, especially if your in class all day and only have 10 minutes between class. I usually take a shake inbetween classes. You can get some power bars or meal replacement bars. You could make your own meal replacement bars. If you can eat in class, and have access to a microwave, you can mix some chicken, rice and veggies in a tupperware bowl and heat it up (if you have time). You can carry a thermal something or other in your backpack to keep foods cool. I prefer supplementation. It is quick, clean nutrients and I hate eating every 2 hours, so it is a nice break from chewing.
As for the forearms. You will get some forearm work from your regular excercises, but if you want to increase them, you can do seated barbell wrist curls, reverse barbell curls, seated reverse dumbell wrist curls, seated dumbell wrist cuurls, seated reverse barbell wrist curls or behind the back barbell wrist curls. You can find explanations of all of these on the site.
I am glad to hear that you are motivated. You should post your pics so that we can see your progress and help give more motivation as well. Its embarassing, but it helps me to do better because I want to post better pics than the ones that are up.
You will get some great gains in the beginning. I envy the progress that you will make until you finally hit a plateau, because then it gets harder to put on weight and mass.
Good luck and I hope that your girlfriend likes the new physique!

I only have class from about 5-10pm normally. I get home from work at around 2. So I have about 3hrs between and a few hours after class before I usually hit the sack for the night. I could try and bring something with me to class if necessary, and also something to work.
How much would you say that you spend on supplements and the necessary foods in a months time, roughly?
Thanks!
