Ok I have been looking into carb cycling and I was wondering how many calories you should be consuming (maintance, below maintance, above) while carb cycling and what days should you be working out on the high days or does it not matter etc. Is this a good cycle program. Also I am 5'11-6ft 187lbs

Monday-Wed

50 grams of carbs (complex carbs)
187 grams protein
no fruit

Thursday & Friday
100 grams carbs (complex carbs)
187 grams protein
some fruit

Sat & Sun
150-200 Carbs (Complex carbs)
187 Grams protein
some fruit

Simple example....

Day 1....(.5 gr. carbs per lb. bw)
Day 2....same
Day 3.....(2 gr. carbs per lb. bw)
Day 4.....(1-1.5 gr. carbs per lb.)
Restart

This method works well, as you have only 2 low carb days, and not enough time to really mess up your workouts, and carbs are again introduced before any "damage" is done to the muscle. Thus, workouts stay productive, and you can keep on a schedule you like with little downside.

From my understanding when Carb Cycling this can be different per person and it's really something you have to experiment with. Start with maintenance for a few weeks and see if that gets you what you're looking for...if it's not fast enough then you can cut about 200-300 each week while keeping the ratios the same, until you reach the desired affect. What I've read you can still trim BF% with this diet and consuming your maintenance though.

Feel free to correct me on this BB1 as I only did carb cycling for about 3 weeks and had good results for such a short time, but am going to wait until closer to summer to attempt it again, so that I have more time to plan it out. I've come to the conclusion that being the cook at home doesn't make this much easier (as I expected it to), since I wouldn't want to restrict my childrens carb intake. So I have to sit down and plan out meal for meal for a few weeks at a time before hand. For me it was just to hard cooking 3-4 meals a night just to get through the next few days.

I'm not working off of a time frame for a competition or anything, so I was in no rush to do a full 2-3 month cycle at least not till I can take my shirt off at the pool.

I like to cycle depending on which days I am workign out. Your body is more tolerant to carbohydrates directly after and later on following a workout.

I am currently doing a carb cycle where I eat 7 meals a day of veggies, protein and fats. On the 21st meal, which is the last meal of the 3rd day, I "carb back up with Oatmeal, sweet potato and fats, no protien. Getting great results so far.
