Naw...

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil; add 1 cup of rice; stir until it comes to a boil again; lower heat to simmer and cover........That's it!

I got an automatic rice cooker, you add a measured amount of rice and water and it dose it perfect every time. No watching the pan it switches itself onto keep warm mode automatically. If I want rice I get back from the gym put it on, and when I finish showering its all ready and waiting. Only problem is you need to cook at least 3 servings at once – but I eat so much this is not a big hassle

Potatoes and pasta provide complex carbos too, those are easy to cook and have a high "yummy" factor.

Cook a whole load of brown rice on sunday afternoon- freeze in in portions, take one out in the morning to thaw and nuke it in the microwave in the evening for your dinner!
Cous-cous is great too: just pour an equal volume of boiling water onto your couscous in a plastic box, seal the lid and leave it for 10-15 mins. Fork it up, then scoff it.

I have the exact opposite problem.
I eat too many carbs (mostly good ones) and I don't get enough protien.

Regarding pasta, potatoes and plain bagels, none are really good carb choices. They are average at best. Regular potatoes, believe it or not, are VERY high on the glycemic index, as is pasta (it's heavily processed). Regular bagels are really no different than white bread. Any grain carbs you consume should be dark (except oatmeal) and grainy. If it's soft, it's probably high glycemic.

Isn't couscous generally deep fried?

Last time I had couscous it was steamed. It is basicly semolina.
