This is kind of a continuation of a previous post... How important are carbohydrates to my diet? I'm already rather lean, just trying to add some muscle. I have no problem getting enough protein and keeping fat down, but I can't seem to get enough carbs...
Is it highly important to be eating tons of carbs, and what exactly is the importance?

That's what I thought... The nutrition thingy on here says I need around 550g of carbs, and that seemed high to me.

That is out of whack, unless it was updated since the ft pro came out.

Here's what it lists, exactly:
Protein -
194 g .. maximum 10% variance is acceptable
Carbohydrates -
543 g .. maximum 10% variance is acceptable
Fats -
70 g .. maximum 10% variance is acceptable
Total Calories -
3475

I would say 2 grams per lb of body weight for the carbs.
and the fat shouldn't be more than 30% of the total calories from Protein and carbs, see what that gives you.

Carivan, I worked that out, assuming that 190g of protein was good for me. I weigh about 155lbs, so that's 310g of carbs... 4 cals for each g of pro and carb comes out to 2000 cals, 30% of that is 600 cal of fat, and if 1g of fat is equal to 9 cals, then my totals look like this:
190g protein,
310g carbs,
67g fat
The fat is just about the same as above, but the carbs are almost cut in half. I think this is more realistic, and what I have been eating anyway.

seems right on to me, and if you are trying to lean out, cut the fat back to about 40, and the carbs to about 275.
Sounds like your on track.
