Personally, when I'm cutting, I keep my carbs in the 100-150g range. and my fat around 70-80g. This obviously changes based on your own stats. I generally keep my protein at around 1.5g / lb of bodyweight (usually a little higher), carbs around 125g and make up the rest with fat.

How much do you weigh mackfactor, and should I aim for about 2100 cals?

I weigh just over 160, around 163. Around 2000-2100 kcals for a cutting diet sounds about right. I think with just about anyone, cutting carbs down to right around 100g (give or take 25g) is ideal for fat loss.

Thanks for the advice. I am having the same problem as selanne re losing those proverbial last 10 pounds. I am a 6'3" male and weigh 174 lbs. My bodyfat is still 12 - 13%, however, and I am trying to get it into the single digits. My weight has not budged for the last 8 weeks even though I only eat about 2100 calories a day, with about 500+ calories burned daily at the gym. My carbohydrate intake has probably been about 175 - 200 g daily. I will try to cut back and see if that works. Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.

Carbs in itself is not the culprit, but the types of carbs. If you cut carbs too much, too fast, you will immediately take a hit on your lean tissue. For your carbs, use fibrous carbs, some will actually aid the fat burning process by the simple process of thermogenisis. All foods have a value, but lean proteins and carbs such as green veggies like spinach, salad veggies, onions, asparagus, cabbage, fruits like strawberries, peaches, and blueberries are great. If you cut carbs too drastically, you run the danger too of your metabolism slowing to a crawl, and your workouts taking a big dive. Hope this helps some.

Thanks bb1fit, but im not quite sure what # of carbs I should use, because I cant really measure how much I take on most days because it is constantly changing from day to day. If I aim for 225/150/70 as in p/c/f, 2100 calories to start would that be to few carbs and too much fat or good?

Why is your diet changing constantly? Is it hard to get those 1 and 2 cup sealing containers like ziploc or whatever brand and fill them with vegetables and salad? and to bake one sweet potato? Have one of these with each of your meals(the vegetables or salad), have a sweet potato at one earlier meal. Sounds like you are in your ballpark with protein. Your numbers sound good assuming your weight, just eat these aforementioned carbs. Mix 4 frozen strawberries in your protein shakes. Have your fat from good EFA sources like Flaxseed oil or fish oils. You may want to cut that number in half or so. These are general ideas, but worthy and very easy to do. After you do this for a while, you may even need to add carb meals to your diet(2) to aid in keeping that metabolism honest, till you get to your desired results. It really isn't that hard. Good luck.

I am 20/m; six foot tall and weighing about 255 pounds I would like to drop to about 225, I am currently lifting 4 days a week and cardio 4-5 days a week, what should my caloric, fat, protien, and carb intake be. The Numbers on the Nutrition plan seem really high.

I thought when cutting you had to keep your fat intake quite low, like 25g of fat per day. I was told to keep my carbs at around 200g, my fat intake at 25 to 30gs a day and my protein to 150gs a day for lowering my body fat percentage. So why would anyone have 80g's of fat a day for a cutting diet?
