Ok - I have read opposing views from what I thought are reliable sources (womens health or Fitness etc.) some say do cardio before you do weights...then another will say do weights - then cardio. Rather confusing to figure who is right when you are not knowledgeable.

You may want to read my post in the General Exercise & Weight Training - Fitness forum, the sticky entitled Cardio questions?
This should clear things up a bit. -------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

My personal opinion; do cardio earlier in the day BEFORE weights, OR do 10 mins of cardio as warm up, weights and then more cardio AFTER.
Yes, also read bb1's post. He's a VERY smart guy! :) -------------- - Nina :o) Les Victoires éternelles sont celles du coeur. www.nme-pro.com |

I would be a little cautious about what's written in magazines - some are very well researched, others less so (I'm not sure about the examples you ahve given). I think it's always good to question what's written rather than accepting it without thinking.

Yes, Pritch. That's what she's saying. Either 1. Do the cardio in the morning and weights in the afternoon, or 2. Warm up, do weights, then do cardio.
It's called reading comprehension. You, being our lost youth, need to work on it.:big_smile: -------------- I will never grow up, just old. Jonathan |

I have a spare Hooked on Phonics set, if you'd like to borrow it. My kids are done with it.:cool:-------------- I will never grow up, just old. Jonathan |

Do your cardio workout after your weightlifting session. Performing cardio before weights will diminish your muscle glycogen and leave you hitting the wall during your weight session.

The main thrust of my post in the thread "cardio"..
Resistance training should always take priority over cardio. Here's why.... The long term gains of increased LBM (lean body mass) and increased secretion of hormones like GH and test far outweigh the calories burnt during a cardio session.. By doing cardio before weights you are simply reducing the amount of glycogen available that could have been used more effectively to fuel your muscles throughout the weight training session...This point cannot be stressed enough. ============ Quoting from pritchard: yet again, i dont get it. ============= -------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |
