what cardio exercises build muscel? coz i go swimming once a week for 2 hours, and sometimes go running (uphill) for an hour. only not on a weekly basis-coz its boring. i can replace running with mountainbiking... but i noticed after running a couple of times, that my thigh muscels really did increase!

To build muscle you need to work against a weight.... Of course you can get a little toned by doing cardio but the main goal is to strengthen your heart.

Do you want to build muscle mass also?, or just get stronger?

If you want to stick with the cardio which is great add some weight to wrists anckles chest while doing the cardio. You need to be more consistant with the cardio not just here and there swimming is great as you get resistance from the water but you can add weight the same as I mentioned but they are water proof and they work great. If you do make sure your in a pool not a lake cuz you will tired a lot quicker with the added weight you may need to take them off quickly.

haha! i'm actually not that skinny anymore! -now since i've been training... thanks for your help everyone! Intruder: sorry i'm replying to your question late i actually just want to get stronger, but i also want to build muscle mass if i can-so i'm doing a bit of weight work at the moment. i'm training my abdominals at the moment mainly, and then also the arm and chest muscels a bit.
