I wanted to address any certified trainers on the board to find out what sort of certification they have and how the testing process was. I'm considering a CSCS sometime in the near future (if, for no other reason than keeping my options open). Just wnated to find out more about the process from those who have gone through it. I still haven't decided between a CSCS and a CPT.

I went through AFAA. Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. A very accredited organization.

I'm a FISAF Person Trainer and FISAF Fitness instructor. I really liked that one. But getting this diploma is just like getting the driving license..... one needs to keep on driving to get better every single day.....

How much test specific material was there to study - or is general knowledge sufficient. How much time did you put in prior to the tests?

Hi. I graduated with AAS in Fitness Specialist/Personal Training, in WA. In addition, Certified in NASM-CPT.
I believe, just reading a materials and book provided by organizations is not enough. I went back after 20 years and graduated. I wouldn't do it any other way..
NASM Certification is thorough, and if you study, (they provide a breakdown on preparation, attend workshop) you will pass. It takes 2 hours.
Just be committed, you will do just fine.
