is there any difference in using a nautilis type bench press
to a standard bench press? gain or lose anything and will
changing to a machine type to replace free style also lose anything in the exchange?

I don't know how nautilis type machines are made but you may or may not lose something in exchange.

The topic above compared a reg. bench and a smith bench

Yeah most machines take a little weight off depending on the machine. Most plate loaded machines(you place weight on the pole) are close to free weights...but remeber that nothing ever replaces the over all greatness of freeweights. They, machines, have their place, but do nto work the same.
