I am changing my routine to a three day cycle. Has anyone ever done shoulders and back on the same day and is that preferred/not preferred?

I would have to say it really depends on your goals. However, to answer your question, working your shoulders and back on the same day is okay.

Good luck!

I have done shoulders and back the same day. The key is probably, does it work for you? There are any number of combinations you can do. Changing it up periodically is great. Best of luck.

I currently do shoulders on my back/bi day.
I do something like 1-2 set of dumbbell shoulder press, 2-3 sets of upright rows and then another two sets for the posterior delt.

I could never do both, but that is what works for me. Try it out then make a decision. My shoulder and back days are very hard. that is why i do them on opposite days.
