Ever since i began weight training, i've noticed jagged, red lines on the upper edges of my chest (near the deltoid area). I have been thinking that perhaps it is from too much bench pressing, or my skin's way of coping with my expanding chest. Does anyone have a definitive answer?
Thanks

hey phat bird and welcome to FT. The marks your describing are stretch marks a result from your body growing. I love seeing my strech marks although you can really see them on me as i naturally have that itialian olive skin:) but you can put some coconut lotion i belive thats it not sure someone can correct me on that, they also have lotion for strech marks designed for preganant women. Don't worry these stretch marks are a good sign.

cocoa butter or Vitamin E oil is supposed to work as well. Also, make sure you keep really really hydrated. The more hydrated you are, the more elastic your skin will be.

a friend of mine has a stretch mark on her butt, and she says it's due to squats... so if you squat to the point where you get stretch marks on your butt, you'll know you're placing the bar on the wrong end of your back...

Stretch marks. well I don't really have them, but if I flex I can see some lines on my deltiods. What is this? Is it muscle?

dx14ag, you might be talking about muscle striations. Thats the actual muscle fibers standing out. If its like little ripples underneath the skin...thats what it is. If not, it might be stretch marks that are showing cuz your flexing.

justin... that was a joke... you see, if you place the bar on your shoulders, where do you get the marks? and if you're getting them on your butt, where would you think the bar was placed?! bleh, never mind... heh...
