I've seen a few topics on this but I havent seen my exact sympytoms on any.
My left pec area is killing me. It doesnt hurt to touch or even hard pressing or massage. When I take deep breaths its almost unbearable. This started over a month ago when I randomly got a sharp pain and thought I was having a heart attack, but last night it kept me awake. Any ideas? Again it doesnt hurt if I lift weights, only when I take breaths or flex stomach.

It might be due to your intercostal muscles. The intercostal muscle are the muscle located between your ribs. They are like any other muscle in your body. You may have overstressed them or pulled one. They are there to assist in breathing. If it gets really bad I suggest that you see your General Physician. He may tell you that it is nothing.

Can you tear your diaphragm?

Sure you can, your diaphragm is a muscle. I really takes a lot and tearing your diaphragm is usually associated with trauma.

I did the same thing 3 years ago. It does feel like a heart attack. I an ECG and it came out normal. I was benching 470 raw at the time and it took me 2-3 months to get back to working out consistently with over 300lbs. It was a big set back but I am nearly back to where I was. Sounds like the same thing but see the doc anyway.
