I feel very woosey that I can't do chins. Is this just a female thing or are there ladies who are capable to chin'up their own weight?

Is this your first time doing them?

Don't feel bad if you can't do them. Eventually you'll probably be able to! I don't know about the other ladies here but I do close grip chins, at least I did before I hurt my shoulder. I haven't tried since so I'm not sure if I can do them now. What I'm doing as an alternative until I feel like I'm ready to do them again is close grip pull downs, or chins on the Gravitron machine (I do wide grip chins on the machine, not close because the hand angle on our Gravitron is awkward). I think that has another name other than the Gravitron but I can't remember what it is. Maybe someone can provide it. LOL I think the Gravitron is actually some funky carnival ride... anyway. I think it's a great exercise, just can't risk doing them right now! Good luck to you!

I do reverse barbell rows. Until the weather gets warmer, and I start running, I cannot do chin ups (I use the swing set at the park).

LOTS of people, male and female, cant do chins. We women lack upper body strength until we work on developing it. I can press 800# with my legs, but I'm lucky to bench 80#. The most Ive gotten on a lat pull is 130# for 6 reps. My upper body strength is improving since 3 years ago, but my legs will always be stronger.

Thanks for the feedback I didn't expect any response. I used to be able to do chins when I was much younger but, I hurt my rotator cuff during the ice storm...(long story). I think I'll try Mike's suggestion and use the pull-down lat machine.

I started with asiisted chins and in a few months worked my way up to 5. I was estatic! But now I have a shoulder injury so all that hard work has gone out the window. Right now I am doing a Reverse Grip Chin, starting at the top of the movement, chin at the bar, lowering and holding at the contration point for about 10 seconds.
