I think it sucks...Florida being picked over Michigan to play in the title game...this would not have happened had Michigan's season not been over. Michigan deserved the rematch...

My prediction...Ohio State in a rout.

I agree with you. I hope Ohio State & Michigan both roll so the controversy grows even more. They need a playoff already!!!!!!

As a Michigan fan, I wholeheartedly agree.

I want a playoff but since we do not have one. Michigan had their chance but blew it. Florida played the toughest schedule in the country. They deserved the shot. Now who is the only team to beat Florida this year ......MY AUBURN TIGERS:big_smile::big_smile:

A 41-38 game is hardly 'blowing it'. No matter what, Ohio State and Michigan are the 2 best teams in the country and deserve to play again.

I hope it is a good game...I know that the media is going to hype it up for ratings, or noone will watch..but I truly believe Ohio State is a much better team than Florida. And this is coming from a guy who absolutely hates Ohio State, does not live in Michigan and is a Big 12 guy. I actually like Florida also.

I can't believe there is a game in which I am rooting for Ohio State. This points out the flaws of the BCS. Bottom line, college football is all about tradition. Who cares if there are dual national champs because of AP and Coaches poll? If they really wanted to fix this they would have left everything the way that it was, then create a new bowl game for the national championship. Stupid BCS:angry:

bbfit, when I said blew it I meant if they would have handled their business when they had a chance, they would be in the game. If you lose by one, you still lose. Florida might get blown out but as of right now, they have not lost to OSU while Michigan has. I actually hate Florida since they are a big rival of mine but they deserve the chance. Remeber, no one thought that New England would beat your Rams in the Super Bowl but we know how that turned out (thinking that you are a ram fan since you just moved from there)

HEY I AM a UF ALUMNI FAMILY USUALLY I WOULD BE SPOUTING OFF MY MOUTH, BUT AT THIS POINT WE WON THE SEC AND DESERVE A SHOT FOR THE TITLE IN MY OPINION MICH GOT THEIR SHOT AND LOST...OUR TURN...I AM NOT SAYING WHAT WILL HAPPEN, BUT IF YOU THINK UF IS GOING TO NOT BE PREPPED FOR IT AND OSU ISNT EITHER YOU ARE MISTAKEN...IT WILL BE A GREAT DESPITE WHAT THE "OTHER" SCHOOL FANS WILL SAY

You cut me deep bro! :(

I am however a true die hard Dallas Cowboy fan. Was actually raised with the Star, been with them since the wee early days.

Dallas against anyone..

But back to college...I just think the 2 best teams should always play, and this may be difficult to pick all the time. I wonder if Michigan's season had not been over and they sat idle for 2 weeks, had instead played and won 2 more games, what then? Anyway, I am hoping for a great game.

I think the part that stops them and hurt the most was that they lost to OSU. If the undefeated team was someone like USC, Michigan would probably have been in the game.

Dallas? I was a Houston Oiler fan for years - now Titans

What we can agree on is ...WE MUST HAVE A PLAYOFF!!!!

No doubt...but lots of knocks against that. I am for it, most of the kids are probably for it also.

Here is another interesting scenario...say Michigan would have beaten Ohio State in the same thriller game, same score, 41-38. So they naturally are in the title game. Now, if Ohio State who had typically blown everyone out all year other than their loss to Michigan, and sitting 2 weeks without playing like they did also, would Florida have leapfrogged them and played Michigan for the title?

Not trying to beat a dead horse here...just having some fun with a 'flawed' system.

I would put Florida and Michigan in the game in that case. You have to win the important games and your last one is very important. Look at Florida - they went 12-1 while beating 2 teams on the top 10 in the bcs (lsu by alot - ark was in the top ten before they beat them) and only lost to AUBURN (bcs#9) by 10 pts (AUBURN scored on the last play of the game or they would have only won by 3) while playing statistical the most difficult schedule in the country.

I think that it is more dangerous to be playing the last 2 weeks - Michigan did not have a conference championship game where Florida did.

bb1, given your scenerio, I would have to say yes. I think that the teams in the Big 10 are penalized in the polls at the end of the season due to not playing for 2 weeks while most of the other conferences do. I am a die-hard Buckeye, born & raised in Columbus and grew up going to OSU games to watch Archie Griffin. That being said, I think Michigan got screwed! I can't remember where I saw this, but if Michigan & Florida were to play today, Michigan would be a 6 point favorite. As my pre-game analysis, OSU has the better kickers. Fla matches up well with OSU's receivers and their speed. The biggest advantage goes to OSU and that is at QB. My prediction, OSU 27 Fla. 17. Go Bucks!!!

SOrry to drag this out but two simple and undisputed facts remain Florida is going not Michigan, and secondly So what is they didnt play that opens up the what if can of all what ifs...like if Michigan and ohio state had division/conf title games would they have lost? who would have won? Very easy to say what if but the facts are simple USC lost Florida showed up and won the SEC now all the smack will be run in Glendale, AZ! GO GATORS! Hmmmmm....wonder if Gators like Buckeyes...oh wait I'll throw Troy Smith Out there and See....let's see how he scrambles then lol!!

I don't like the BCS.....theres 2 other teams that are like 12-1 louville and I think Rudigers went undefeated.

They need a tournment like NCAA B Ball.

only team went undefeated was boise state and ohio state...I mean of anyone who is even anyone lol...if they have a tournament it should only be top 4 in my opinion take this yr for instance you would have all the teams in it boise state plays OSU UF plays Mich then the winners advance but then you would have the rest of the top ten whining so there is no perfect fix

With that on the table, let's take a look at our first Division 1 college football tournament:

New Year's Day

Fiesta Bowl: No. 1 seed Ohio State vs. No. 8 seed Boise State
Who wouldn't be excited about a first-round game featuring two unbeaten teams? That would be Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel, a man recently credited with having refused to vote after agreeing to take the Pepsi Challenge.

But Tressel really knows how to prepare for bowl games, especially those that occur in Arizona. It also should be noted that Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith still is the Ohio State quarterback in this parallel universe.

Unfortunately for Boise State, its quarterback is not named Bryce Drew.

The Buckeyes roll, 35-10.

Sugar Bowl: No. 4 seed LSU vs. No. 5 seed USC

Poll

LSU fans warm up for this battle of speedy teams by putting the "boo!" in Booty. That's USC quarterback John David Booty, who left Louisiana for L.A. without even bothering to participate in his senior season of high school.

Booty can't do much against the relentless Tiger pass rush, but the Trojans manage a little business on the ground. The USC rushing attack is led by bruising Chauncey Washington, who arrived at Troy with credentials similar to those of current Superdome hotshot Reggie Bush.

USC prevails, 17-14.

Orange Bowl: No. 2 seed Florida vs. No. 7 seed Wisconsin
The Badgers just don't have the speed to handle the Gators, whose coach — Urban "Cabernet" Meyer — has unleashed more tricky plays than Neil Simon.

While subbing for Chris Leak, Florida freshman quarterback Tim Tebow scores the game's first touchdown on a double-reverse pass to himself.

Wisconsin, which didn't allow a point to Ohio State this season, gives up 28 in an 18-point loss to Florida.

Rose Bowl: No. 3 seed Michigan vs. No. 6 seed Louisville
The Cardinals' highly regarded offense generates three touchdowns in Louisville's first three possessions. Eventually, Michigan realizes that its defense is being coached by Don English, the identical twin brother of Wolverine coordinator Ron English. After the switch back to Ron is made, Michigan allows just 10 more points.

The Cardinals' lightly regarded defense does little to stop the comeback efforts of Chad Henne, Mike Hart and Mario Manningham.

Michigan advances with a 38-31 victory.

Jan. 8 — The Final Four

Semifinal 1: No. 2 seed Florida vs. No. 3 seed Michigan
This is the first time the 2 and 3 seeds have met in college football's Final Four. Michigan strikes first when English's defense scores on an interception of Florida's middle screen to an eligible tackle.

The Gators respond when freshman Percy Harvin scores from 79 yards out on a Statue-of-Liberty handoff from Tebow on a fourth-and-one.

Not to be outdone is fun-loving Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. Carr overrules his offensive coordinator and has receiver Manningham line up at quarterback and make a 15-yard scoring toss to quarterback Henne.

Florida eventually succumbs when Leak — who's miffed that Tebow has taken half of the Gators' snaps — takes a knee on fourth-and-goal with his team down by four points.

Michigan reaches the championship game with a 28-24 victory.

Semfinal 2: No. 1 seed Ohio State vs. No. 5 seed USC
Before kickoff, the FOX broadcast team reminds us that no dome team has ever won the championship game of the college football tournament.

Much like USC predecessor Matt Leinart, Booty has a huge opening half in his first game as the starter inside Glendale's University of Phoenix Stadium.

USC's advantage is assisted when a clean out-of-bounds collision co-starring Trojan safety Kevin Ellison and Tressel leaves the Buckeyes coach a bit dazed and confused.

Tressel, thinking he's Woody Hayes, takes a swing at USC receiver Steve Smith. He compounds this mistake by traveling back to the 2005 Texas game and benching Troy Smith.

But the Ohio State defense saves the day, generating three USC turnovers as the Buckeyes advance with a 31-28 triumph.

Jan. 15 — Championship Game

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Title Tilt: No. 1 seed Ohio State vs. No. 3 seed Michigan
This is the first time teams from the same conference have met in the tournament championship game.

Tressel has returned to his senses and has Troy Smith back at starting quarterback.

But Michigan sets the tempo when the Wolverines marching band summons enough recruits to march the script Michigan on the stadium's roll-in grass field. A Tostitos essay contest is used to determine which lucky fans are allowed to dot each "i" in Michigan.

Tressel, knowing the Wolverines know the Buckeyes and how Jim knows they know them, plays it close to the sweater-vest. Carr, who realizes just how slick Tressel is, does the same. Lloyd even encourages Henne to audible from a run to a run.

This field-position battle finally yields a game-changing dividend when Buckeye Quinn Pitcock tackles Hart for a safety.

Now trailing by a deuce, Carr decides to open it up. Henne rallies the Wolverines with a scoring toss to Steve Breaston. Ohio State answers when Ginn returns the kickoff for a 98-yard touchdown.

The defensive battle anticipated for the showdown in Columbus resurfaces in the desert until Michigan kicks a field-goal for a 10-9 lead.

The Buckeyes strike last when Smith avoids a third-down sack and sprints 19 yards for the game-winning touchdown.

Ohio State fans attempt to celebrate their 16-10 national-championship victory by tearing up the neighborhood, but realize there is no neighborhood around University of Phoenix Stadium.

A riot breaks out back in Detroit just moments after the game ends. Rioters admit they have no idea that Michigan had just played Ohio State.

Yeah, it is tough when there is 3 weeks or more between time you play. Being any kind of athlete, you know when you are in a rythym of practicing daily, playing on weekends every week, you are sharp.

In these bowl games, anything can happen.

One change I would make is scheduling....make it so no team has to go that long between games. I think it is bad for all teams.

Hats off to USC, they outmanned and outplayed Michigan. To that I give credit where credit is due.

On a lighter note, anyone watch that Boise State/OU game last night? Wow, what a thriller. When BS came back on that 4th down and scored, my wife was asleep. I jumped up and hollered...woke her up. :)

Fun game.

That fiesta bowl was great - I think everyone (excpet ok fans) were cheering for BS. One of the greatest bowl games in a while if not ever
