I don't know where to begin. It seems like I have been fat for an eternity and I am ready to get rid of it. I never realized how big I was till I saw my reflection in a store window. Now the image is stuck in my mind and I want to fix it. I have a family history of diabetes, heart disease, etc... I don't want to end up like "them" but I have no clue where to start. I only know that I have a huge battle to fight. I would be awesome to look good when my husband gets back from Iraq. It is unrealistic to want to be super model thin. I just want to drop some major pounds and be happy with myself as a person, not two or three. Advice would be greatly appreciate.

You go girl!!! I know exactly how you feel. At one point in my past miserable life, I weighed 278lbs. At one point I could also say I had lost 109 lbs. I am back to 195 right now, but discovered this websight. It is of great help to me. I'm not sure I should push advertisement on this sight, but there is a book I am almost finished reading that is giving me great insight. "The Me I Knew I Could BE" , written by Crystal Phillips. I bet you'd love it. ROCK ON

Thanks for all the support ya'll! I am gonna get a buddy and we are gonna bust buns. So far the plan is to get together this weekend and plan our meals out a week at a time. Then figure out a workout routine. The only obstacle will be our crazy boys who are bound to laugh at us. Go figure huh!!!

My first question: I am hispanic, thus good at making homemade tortillas, refried beans, etc.... how do I unlearn what I was taught as kid and learn how to cook healthy? I am not a huge fan of rabbit food.

Save what you like to eat for a cheat day once you get going on your program and new way of eating healthy. Do a search on here for healthy foods, and check out the diet and nutrition area of the board. Stick to good clean food and you will see good results. But ...I wouldn't mind some of that hispanic food!
