I am definately more sore today than I was yesterday - I did my first day of glutes and thighs on Monday. I am not complaining as I know that this is all part of the process, but was wondering if anyone could give advice on how to cope - I've only taken Advil. Thanks!

First day will be the worst one, after this they shouldn't be so bad. My first day of glutes made me very sore.

I could barely walk the first time after I did glutes and thighs. I swear I wanted to cry at times! But try taking warm baths and massaging the hurting area with some muscles soothing lotion. That's what I did and it got better.

You guys ROCK! I really appreciate your advice and it's nict to hear that there are others out there who feel sore after they workout - I was afraid that you were all superheroes! Whew! I do appreciate the pain as I know it's for a good reason, I just look a little funny when I start walking after having sat for awhile. The peeps in my office think I'm a freak - LOL!

When you first start working out you get second day soreness, which is exactly what it sounds like. It will go away after a few weeks of regular workouts. I would be sore for a week after I worked out in the beginning. I still get sore, but now it's only bad the first day and it gradually goes away. If I don't get sore I feel I haven't worked out hard enough. It becomes a good gauge of both workout intesity and muscle isolation.

Whatever you do, do not rub the sore muscles w/ capsicum and sit in a hot tub. :)

I don't get sore much anymore but whenever I try something different it takes a few workouts before I get used to it. When I joined the gym (from working out at home, freeweights only) I got sore again for a few weeks. But once I've done the particular exercise a couple weeks in a row my body adapts really quickly now. The muscle tiredness/achiness sets in almost by the end of the day, and usually is gone by the following morning. But if I try something really different - my soreness peaks on the second or third day. The calf machines really did me in; literally could not walk properly for two full days. LOL

I worked out my shoulders and abs yesterday and so far am feeling them, but not like I was feeling my legs yesterday! I'll probably be paralyzed tomorrow! LOL

I have a great book on stretching called "The Supple Body" that is good because it provides good photographs along with easy to understand descriptions of the different moves. I spent about 20 minutes utilizing some of the stretches before going to bed last night and my legs are MUCH better today.

Zel, I came to this board today to post the same message. lol. Just look at it as growing pains - it's easier to deal with that way.

I just want to offer a suggestion re the sore glutes - When you sit (which I have to do all day too) your knees are bent and your glutes are the least streatched out. I have my feet resting on a box with my legs straight out and about waist high, at least now it doesn't hurt as much when I stand up. I've also been standing at my desk periodically, typing is a little harder, but oh-well.

Its 90 degrees f here today & I drove an hour to work with my heated seat on full to try to loosen up the muscles. Did't really work.

The day after my workouts I can feel it a little, but come day 2, LOOK OUT!
