My friend, Paul (writes as "Vag" at animalpak.com), entered his Best Bench of America qualifier last week (final's in Oct). He was planning to open with 705. He was in the warm up area doing boards with 600, when in the middle of doing a press, his humerous snapped! The weight came crashing down, but thank God for the boards. Turned out to be compound, but tissue damage was minimal. Took the docs 6 hours in surgery to insert a steel rod in his arm, but the prognosis is good. With it only being a bone break, rehab should be good, and it shouldn't effect his bench in the future, as if it were a soft tissue tear. I'll keep you updated...

Holly cow! I have never heard of a humerous snapping before. Do you think he had fresh injury prior to that? I would like to see the case study on that injury. I hope he recovers and gets his full strength back...

That sucks....hope he recovers quickly...fractures are 6-8 weeks to heal I think....so hopefully he's out no more than 2 months...

just out of curiosity what size is he? 705 is tremendous amount of weight..

Spoke with him on the ph last night, and he emailed me a pic post-Sx. The bone broke 4 inches from the top. They tried to set in on Sat in the town where the comp was, but they couldn't, so they casted it, and he had to drive home (4 hours) with it. His ortho got him in on Wed for the rod insertion; supposed to be 2 hour Sx, but took 6. He's going back tomorrow for an update. Doc wont give him a time line yet. We'll see....

(No previous injury to that area. And he weighs in at 265.)
