i just started taking creatine during the last month and i can visibly see my muscles are significantly larger, but my friend said that it is water and when i stop using it for a month (due to cycling), i won't look as muclular b/c i will loose the water in my muscles. is this true?? also, is it ok to take creatine and whey at the same time after a workout?

The answer to your second question is yes. I mix creatine and whey protein in the same shake most of the time.

The answer to your first question is yes and no. Creatine plays a crucial role in producing ATP for your muscles. That is the whole point of supplementing with creatine. Most people buy creatine (and many other supplements for that matter) believing it will make them huge, but have no idea how it works. Creatine will draw more water into the cells of skeletal muscle, and that's why you have to drink more when you take it. When you stop taking creatine, the extra water is not needed by the cell so it expells it. You will lose some weight when you go off it, but its not like your loosing 50lbs or anything. People won't even notice. I lost 4lbs the last time I stopped taking it, but when I started again I gained 6lbs in a week and a half. I do 16-18 weeks on, 3 weeks off. Works great for me.

Hope that helps...
