Supplements can be a great aid with your health and fitness goals. Combined with the proper exercise and nutritional plan they can be quite effective.

Good morning mj23 and welcome - this is one of those questions that pops up quite often. You might get different opinions but I'll jump in and give mine to start. :) I've worked with many young adults and supplements are one of the first things they start asking about. Usually, long before they consider getting the diet up to where it should be and also before they've worked out long enough to know what kind of gains they can expect. FWIW, you are 15 and so full of growth hormones right now that your prospects for growth are just about unlimited unless you have a medical condition that might slow you down. In many cases I've seen, folks expect one of those one size fits all miracle supplements to be a replacement for a mediocre workout and 3 meals at the burger doodle.

I just re-read this and it comes across as a lecture and it's not meant that way so my apologies in advance if it's seen in that light. I enjoy helping folks in the gym and in my experience, a tad more serious work out time and some major change in the diets work what seems like miracles.

Mike, great post! It does not sound like a lecture at all, it is fact, and needs to be said. The media hype has everyone thinking all they have to do is take this or that, and magically muscles or fat loss. Kids are especially susceptible to this nonsense. 95% of what we do is through diet and hard work. If at all, 5% comes from supplements. They would have you think it is the other way around. Max out your diet and training first. The 95%, not the 5%. How will you even know if they worked or not if you take them right away?
